The collaboration seeks to establish a technology hub for Danisi Engineering, enhancing its software engineering and IT capabilities in India. This alliance also provides Greaves Technologies with a gateway to penetrate the European market.

Bengaluru’s Greaves Technologies, a comprehensive engineering, R&D, and digital services provider under the diverse Greaves Cotton Group, has formed a partnership with Italy-based Danisi Engineering, known for its vehicle engineering and prototyping solutions in the automotive sector.

This partnership is set to utilize Greaves Technologies’ Indian presence to enhance IT and software engineering capabilities for Danisi Engineering in India and simultaneously enable Greaves Technologies to venture into the European market, where Danisi’s prominent clients include Ferrari and Fiat.

Greaves Technologies, which provides mechanical, system design, and virtual engineering services to major clients like Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and Stellantis India, plans to merge IT and operational technology (OT) skills to deliver high value to automotive customers during their digital transition, aiming to reduce market entry time.

Operating a ‘Variant Factory’ for DICV in Chennai and offshore development centres for Stellantis in Hyderabad and Chennai, Greaves Technologies engages in global projects covering the US, Europe, and Asia.

Suman Nelluri, the Executive Director at Greaves Technologies, emphasizes the firm’s position as the sole partner for DICV in terms of variant engineering. The company boasts a specialized team and a robust clientele that includes Greaves Engineering and Greaves Electric Mobility. Nelluri points out their primary expertise in design engineering, covering a range from fundamental designs to reverse engineering and CFD simulations. He also mentions their focus on merging IT and OT, facilitated by their collaboration with Danisi Engineering.

Danisi Engineering, headquartered in Turin, Italy, specializes in vehicle dynamics, simulation, and architecture design. The partnership with Greaves Technologies will lead to the establishment of a global competency centre for Danisi Engineering in India. Nelluri emphasizes Greaves’ trust and brand value in expanding R&D activities and developing new skills.

Noting the abundant talent in India, Nelluri is optimistic about quickly scaling Danisi Engineering’s operations. This long-term project has already begun taking shape since the agreement was finalized in November 2023, following discussions that started in July. Nelluri clarifies that each engineering project will have its own commercial agreement based on the specific investment requirements.

Greaves Technologies, with a foothold in the US, seeks to leverage this partnership to reach out to emerging large bus and recreational vehicle (RV) manufacturers in the US amidst a surge in electrification and R&D demands. Additionally, Danisi Engineering’s solid presence in Europe paves the way for Greaves Technologies to establish a technological office there. Nelluri concludes with an ambitious five-year plan to focus on system design and engineering, utilizing the combined strengths of both companies to secure large global projects and enter markets jointly.
