EKA Mobility Names Nobuyoshi Umezawa As CSO

His key expertise is managing turnkey EPC contracts, investing in PPP/PFI projects, and financing projects.

EKA Mobility, a leading player in the electric mobility sector with Mitsui Co., Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands) as equity partners, has appointed Nobuyoshi Umezawa as Chief Strategy Officer.

Umezawa brings extensive experience and knowledge in international business, project management, and investment portfolio management. He began his professional career in 1996 with Mitsui & Co. Ltd, where he played a key role in a variety of infrastructure and mobility projects throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and elsewhere. His primary areas of competence are project management of turnkey EPC contracts, investment in PPP/PFI projects, and project financing.

Umezawa has served on the boards of several prominent organizations, including passenger railway operators in the United Kingdom, commercial vehicle leasing companies in Latin America, industrial machinery distributors in the United States, and logistics and finance entities in India, among others.

Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, expressed his enthusiasm for Umezawa’s appointment, highlighting his wealth of experience, strategic insight, and global perspective as invaluable assets for the company’s strategic growth and development.

Nobuyoshi Umezawa, the newly appointed Chief Strategy Officer of EKA Mobility, expressed his enthusiasm for his new position. He stated his eagerness to apply his expertise in driving strategic initiatives that will propel the company’s growth in both Indian and international markets.

EKA Mobility formed a partnership with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. from Japan and VDL Groep from the Netherlands in December of last year. Their joint venture aims to establish advanced Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the region.

With combined investments surpassing USD 100 million (approximately Rs 850 crores) across multiple phases, this collaboration taps into the expertise and strengths of three major automotive conglomerates from Asia and Europe. Their goal is to accelerate the development and global adoption of innovative electric mobility solutions. This partnership is focused on enhancing India’s position in the global electric vehicle market, fostering innovation, creating job opportunities, and advancing sustainability in the automotive industry.
