Tata Motors, one of India’s premier commercial vehicle manufacturers, has officially unveiled 400 cutting-edge Starbus EVs in the heart of Delhi. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri. Vinai Kumar Saxena, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, jointly inaugurated this event on September 5th, 2023. These state-of-the-art electric buses are part of a 1,500-bus order from the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

Tata Motors supplied these zero-emission buses through its subsidiary, TML CV Mobility Solutions Ltd. These electric buses feature advanced battery systems and cutting-edge features, in line with India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Designed for enhanced comfort and convenience, these low-floor, air-conditioned buses aim to provide a more environmentally friendly and sustainable intra-city commute within the National Capital Territory of Delhi. With this deployment, Tata Motors has reached the milestone of supplying over 1,000 e-buses nationwide.

Ms. Shilpa Shinde, IAS, the Managing Director of DTC, expressed her enthusiasm, stating that DTC is committed to providing efficient, economical, and reliable road transport services to the citizens of Delhi. She noted that the addition of 400 electric buses would contribute to making mass mobility safer, smarter, and greener across the National Capital Territory.

The Tata Starbus EV aims to transform urban commuting with its full-electric drivetrain, efficient energy usage, and cost-effective operation. These electric buses emphasize passenger comfort and safety, incorporating features like electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, air suspension, Intelligent Transport System, and a panic button.

As part of the USD 128 billion Tata Group, Tata Motors, with a commitment to the transition to electric vehicles, is at the forefront of providing intelligent and sustainable mobility solutions. As of March 31, 2023, Tata Motors’ operations extend across various countries and subsidiaries, solidifying its position in automotive innovation.
