DeitY invites inputs regarding formulation of standards in electronics

20657486.cmsWednesday, May 07, 2014: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India, formulates Indian standards and products and processes in various technology areas. The Indian standards are formulated by technical committees of experts constituted from various stakeholders from the relevant field.

The Indian standards relevant to electronics are given in Table 1 below. It may be seen that as against hundreds of electronic products, standards have been developed for only a few products. Standards need to be formulated and enforced for many more products.

The details of electronic products for which standards are currently under formulation are given in Table 2 below.

Inputs are invited from all stakeholders, consumers, industry and academia, regarding possible subjects on which further standardization work can be taken up in the electronics domain. Based on inputs received, DeitY would take up the matter with BIS.
