BEL And IIT Delhi Collaborate To Convert Deep Tech Research Into Navy Products

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has partnered with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi. This collaboration aims to translate breakthroughs in Naval Deep Tech research at CARE – IIT Delhi into products for Indian Navy.

This MoU has been signed for R&D collaborations in various emerging technologies, as envisaged by the Indian Navy’s Office of Naval Projects at IIT Delhi, to facilitate the conversion of inventions in ongoing deep-tech research into Naval products.

The MoU has been inked by Manoj Jain, Director (R&D), BEL, and Prof Preeti Ranjan Panda, MD, FITT, in the presence of officials from the Indian Navy and IIT Delhi.

The Naval research conducted at CARE – IIT Delhi necessitated active involvement from industry partners, ensuring their participation in research and product development right from the outset. This collaborative approach is vital for a seamless transition during prototype trials and eventual production.

The entry of BEL marks a new era of collaboration between the industry and the academic community at IIT Delhi, which will significantly contribute to the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. BEL and IIT Delhi will collaboratively focus on advancing core technologies with practical applications in areas relevant to the Indian Navy.

BEL has expressed keen interest in engaging in partnerships related to Naval Electronic Systems, encompassing areas such as RF, Sonar systems, IMARS, and Communication Systems.
