India’s manufacturing sector is set for a giant leap forward with the government announcing a slew of measures to boost domestic output. As a result, various companies catering to different sectors such as consumer electronics, telecom equipment, computers and solar energy are gearing up to expand their production facilities in India. The growing solar energy sector has now become a far more attractive energy option with many project developers from across the globe venturing into India.

The more production facilities come up, it will help boost the development of many other sectors like tools and equipment, test and measurement (T&M) devices, surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole machines.

EPCOS has opened a new factory in Bawal, Haryana, to manufacture power capacitors. The 8600 sq m plant will focus on the manufacture of AC capacitors for motor-starting and motor-running applications; and for power factor correction (PFC), primarily in the Indian market.

NTL Electronics Ltd

Products manufactured:
Ballasts, luminaires, retrofit CFLs, LED drivers and LED lamps

NTL Electronics plans to set up a manufacturing base in north India in partnership with the Dutch company Lemis Lighting. The company will invest about
Rs 100 million in the new facility, the output from which will target commercial establishments such as special economic zones, IT parks and city lighting requirements.

Anchor Electricals

Wiring devices, wires and cables, MCBs and circuit breakers, lighting luminaires

Anchor Electricals has commissioned its new Rs 2 billion facility at Daman. It manufactures a complete range of wiring devices. This is the first greenfield plant set up by Panasonic after it acquired Anchor and has been set up with a production capacity of 240 million units, which is expected to double by the end of this fiscal year.

Schmersal India

Switchgears

Schmersal India plans to set up a manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune at a cost of Rs 556 million. Electro-mechanical safety devices, electronic sensors and lift switchgear are to be manufactured at the plant, which is expected to be operational by April next year.

Anritsu Pte Ltd (India)

Anritsu India’s facility in Bengaluru now offers calibration services for VectorStar, Anritsu’s premium line of Vector Network Analysers (VNAs). The state of the art facility will allow Anritsu India to conduct troubleshooting, repair, performance verification, and calibration of the VectorStar product lines, which offer best in class performance for a variety of RF/microwave/millimeter wave designs.
