Odisha State Establishes Skill Development Centre

Odisha state government is establishing a skill development centre, an EV Manufacturing and a Drone Manufacturing and Training Centre will be set up in Odisha state with the help of the Directorate of Technical Education & Training through the Government Polytechnic Bhubaneswar. The institute has signed a pact with Skyy Rider and the association will enable the EV eco-system and provide the necessary facilities to produce more vehicles. According to the CEO of Skyy Rider Electric, Nihar Ranjan Panda, the company intends to produce electric vehicles for commercial, medical and public utility use. The plant will yield employment for hundreds of individuals every year.

A local startup, Aero Rovers and the government have also collaborated to manufacture low-cost, robust industrial drones in association with the Government Polytechnic, Bhubaneswar. The partnership will cater to the diverse needs of drones in industrial, agriculture, administration and retail applications. Aero Rovers will set up a drone manufacturing and pilot training unit and also provide hands-on technical understanding to students of the polytechnic.

CEO of Aero Rovers Jajati Mohanty said, “they will work together to impart training to students of other educational institutions to develop technical skills and make them job-ready, which will ultimately generate employment.”

This will also consist of a collaboration with Skyy Rider Institutions and deliver more than 80 different skill development programs in the field of automotive, electric vehicle and software development, industrial robotics, drones and mechatronics to generate over 10,000 jobs annually. The centre will draw students from across the country for a variety of courses and raise Odisha’s profile nationally. The contracts were signed by polytechnic Principal Sushant Kumar Patra with CEO of Skyy Rider Institutions Himansu Sekhar Panda, Nihar Ranjan Panda, CEO of Aero Rovers Jajati Mohanty, Director DTET, Reghu G were also present.
