Taiwan’s PIDA Signs MoU With India’s ICEA

The Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA) of Taiwan has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).

The objective of this MOU is to promote mutual cooperation, facilitate collaborations in fields of newer technologies relating to but not limited to display, optoelectronics etc., exchange of experiences, initiation of reports and studies relating to innovations and applications of innovations in varied sectors across electronics and promotion of such technologies, an official statement stated.

To support Make in India

The MoU will also facilitate and strengthen the exchange of information and experiences in the development of optoelectronic technology in India through the participation of Taiwanese companies which can fully support the flagship Make in India and Design in India programs of the Government of India undertaken under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

The MoU further enables the two sides to exchange information on the photoelectric market and industry trends of the two countries and promote and encourage industrial upgrading of each other’s regions. 

A welcome development

“PIDA – ICEA MoU is a very welcome development. PIDA is promoting optoelectronics, electro-optics, heterogeneous materials and digital optics. Digital Optics will especially be a cutting-edge technology as it would be the future of optics”, said Kenneth Tai, Chairman, PIDA.

He further added, “PIDA will act as a bridge in this platform which has been created through this MoU and Indian industry can approach over two thousand Taiwanese photonics companies as per PIDA’s membership base such as Largan, Epistar, Liteon, Everlight, Asia Optics .”

“ICEA has been closely working with the Taiwanese industry stakeholders during the past 10 years or more to promote the establishment of mobile and electronics manufacturing eco-system in the country. The focus will be towards the development of display, optoelectronics, lithium-ion cell as well as the development of newer technologies,” said Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA.

The official release mentioned that PIDA – ICEA MoU will significantly work towards strengthening the flagship programs of both the countries in terms of supporting Taiwan’s Southward policy as well as Make in India and Design in India of the Indian Government.
