Chandigarh To Establish Policy Lab To Attract Investment

Rajeev Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi and Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday to establish a policy lab.

The lab will be established to study the contemporary policies on various important subjects and fields such as all-round development, employment, environment, natural resources, stability, constitutional values and democratic institutions.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and host of other government officials and representatives of the foundation were present during the signing of the MoU.  

The MoU was signed by Vijay Mahajan, director Rajeev Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, and Devsenapati, CEO of the CHiPS. The CHiPS is set up under the Chhattisgarh government’s Electronic and Information Technology Department.

Unexplored opportunities
On the occasion, topics such as ways to find options of investment for technology and electronic industries in the state and how to get investment in Chhattisgarh were discussed.

Chief Minister informed the delegation about the natural resources, manpower, and infrastructure available in Chhattisgarh and urged them to invest in the state.

Member of a Taiwanese delegation and renowned entrepreneur Professor Yi Shi Chang informed about Taiwan’s progress in the field of electronics. He informed that electronic products are an important part of Taiwan’s GDP.

While the works related to designing of electronic circuit etc is mostly done in Silicon Valley, electronic hardware are manufactured in countries like Taiwan.

He expressed his interest in developing Intelligent Power Modular (IPM) in Chhattisgarh. He said that Chhattisgarh has immense potential for development. The IPM can be described as an electronic brain device that can be used in an electric vehicle, solar power, power generation, and many other electronic devices.

Chief Minister said that the proposals received in Chhattisgarh will be considered as per the policy of Government of India. He directed the CHiPS and Industry department to do research on the scope of electronics industries in Chhattisgarh.
