India’s coal capital Dhanbad scored 95.3 per cent in Opensignal’s measurements for 4G availability, becoming one of only two cities among India’s 50 cities to pass the 95 per cent mark. The other city was Ranchi which scored 95 per cent in 4G availability.
Economic Times reported that Opensignal in its report mentioned that Srinagar was just shy of the 95 per cent mark with a 4G availability score of 94.9 per cent. Raipur stood at fourth position by scoring 94.8 per cent followed by Patna with 94.5 per cent.
Metro cities giving a tough competition
Overall, all the cities scored over 87 per cent 4G availability, as per Opensignal’s report and analysis. Patna had earlier won Opensignal’s comparison of 20 of India’s largest cities by 4G availability nearly a year ago and has increased its score by close to 2 percentage points since that time.
Delhi and Mumbai stood in the lower half of the table with scores of 90 per cent each, slightly lower than Hyderabad’s 90.5 per cent. Bangalore was mid-table on 92.3 per cent, while Ahmedabad scored 92.7 per cent.
In Opensignal’s most recent India Mobile Network Experience report, Jio’s national 4G availability score stood at 96.7 per cent — over 20 percentage points ahead of its main rivals.
