HFCL Wins Two Global Contracts Worth Rs 148 crore

The contracts are for executing telecommunication systems projects for Mauritius Metro Express Project and Dhaka Metro Mass Rapid Transit System.

The Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited (HFCL), a leading telecom infrastructure provider, has bagged two global contracts worth Rs 148 crore from Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

According to a PTI report, the contracts are for executing telecommunication systems projects for Mauritius Metro Express Project and Dhaka Metro Mass Rapid Transit System.

In a BSE filing, the company stated that the Mauritius Metro Express Project is along a 26-km route that will connect Curepipe to Immigration Square in the capital Port Louis. It will feature 19 stations.

The Dhaka Metro Mass Rapid Transit System Project is along a 20 km route and is an elevated metro rail system connecting Uttara and Motijheel, it added. It will have 16 stations and a maintenance depot as well.

The contract includes designing, manufacturing supply, installation, execution, testing and commissioning and training for communications network, control and monitoring system.

Mahendra Nahata, chairman of the HFCL group, said that they are in talks for many other such projects overseas.

Company History

Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd was incorporated on May 11, 1987 in the State of Himachal Pradesh. The company manufactures access equipment, optical fibre cables, accessories and terminal equipment. Its manufacturing units are located at Solan, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and New Delhi.

The company has partnered with various equipment manufacturers located in UK, Italy, US, China, Korea, etc. to share technological know–how.

HFCL’s client–base includes major companies such as BSNL, MTNL, TTL, Reliance, Bharti, PGCIL, GAIL and VSNL.

In September this year, the company had bagged purchase orders worth Rs 558.36 crore from the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) for PAN Indian Defence Communication Network.
