Epson Printers Now Compatible with Amazon Alexa for Voice-Activated Printing

Epson and Amazon are collectively making it easier for users to print documents, either onsite or remotely to a printer at office or home, by just asking Alexa

Epson America, Inc., a global company offering printing solutions, announced on Thursday that its printers in the EcoTank, WorkForce and Expression series that are enabled with its cloud scan and print services – Epson Connect are now compatible with Amazon’s Alexa for voice-activated printing.

The Epson printer, which is built on the company’s existing Epson Connect service, allows the account holders of Amazon to easily deliver voice commands to print a variety of documents, such as shopping and to-do lists, calendars and craft items, using cloud-based voice service of Amazon.

Besides, with new skill connection facility of Amazon, users can print from certain skills, like Allrecipes.com. Epson and Amazon are collectively making it easier for users to print documents, either onsite or remotely to a printer at office or home, by just asking Alexa.

Commenting on the development, Jack Rieger, Senior Product Manager – Software and User Experience, Epson America, said, “In the ever-expanding world of IoT, Epson voice-activated printing is another way to increase productivity and connectivity, ensuring the latest technologies work together effortlessly to benefit our customers’ busy lives. With the Epson printer skill, we’ve made printing as easy as having a conversation. Voice-activated printing is the next smart convenience in today’s smart home.”

Enhancing user experience

By integrating convenient and speedy printing through voice-based commands, Epson allows busy customers to do multitask and achieve more in limited time. The Epson printer skill allows customers to communicate via a number of commands to meet their needs for common printing. The company is also planning to incorporate support services for multiple voice assistants by early next year.

The voice-activated printing solution of Epson is currently available with Alexa. This solution can be available in the Alexa Skills Store through Alexa app or on Amazon.com. The voice-based printing of Alexa is compatible with the company’s printers that feature Epson Connect service such as the EcoTank, WorkForce, and Expression series of printers.
