SSIA launches first complex equipment consortium

As part of its three-year plan to support the Electronics Industry Transformation Map (ITM), the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) have launched Singapore’s first Complex Equipment Consortium to focus on enhancing collaborations and developing capabilities to build the semiconductor industry of tomorrow.

The consortium brings together 17 industry partners, including solutions and equipment providers, academia as well as research and development entities. These partners provide different expertise that will help to deepen the technical capabilities and strengthen the ecosystem, increasing the competitiveness of Singapore as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub and creating a conducive business environment for all.

The recent launch of the Complex Equipment Consortium was attended by Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of National Development Dr. Koh Poh Koon, who said that the consortium could play a key role in bolstering the semiconductor industry.

“SSIA has been a key partner of the government to transform the industry, and we are pleased to see its efforts come to fruition in the form of the Complex Equipment Consortium. The consortium has the potential to drive the development of the semiconductor industry, establishing Singapore’s position as a leading global manufacturing hub.” CK Tan, President of the SSIA, said, “As the Horizontal Enabler of the Electronics ITM, the launch of the Complex Equipment Consortium is an important step taken by SSIA to support a vibrant and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem. We look forward to working together with the consortium partners to facilitate knowledge sharing, harness synergy and increase opportunities for companies, academics and government agencies to co-develop innovative solutions to drive the transformation of the sector.”

All 17 consortium partners were present at the event. These partners are: AEM Holding, CEI Limited (Equipment Division), EverComm Uni-Tech, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, SESTO Robotics, Kinergy Corporation, Lumileds, Plasma Innovation Labs, Semi Integration, SILTRONICS, A*STAR Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore University 2 of Technology and Design, STMicroelectronics, Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Co., SCHNEEBERGER Linear Technology and MEDs Technologies.
