ESSCI and IEEE tie-up to build Capacity for ESDM and Semiconductor Segment

Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), an industry led autonomous body under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), on Monday (July 11), joined hands with Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to build capacity and improve the employability of the Indian workforce for the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and the Semiconductor industry.

This announcement was made at the 7th Defence and Aerospace – Strategic Electronics Summit (SES), being held at Bangalore. The focus being “Make in India” and skill requirements for the same.

ESSCI having trained in the past year, over 2 lakh citizens for entry level jobs under various government schemes, bring to the table an effective management model and an interface to the Government of India.

IEEE, being the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity are on board as Knowledge Partners, thus raising the skill standards to a global level.

“The objective of this association is to provide a global perspective of the industry needs and competencies for the ESDM and Semiconductor sector. We aim to increase availability of job deployable engineering talent,” said  Narendra Kumar Mohapatra, CEO at ESSCI.

“IEEE are a global knowledge bank, and their participation in this skill development mission will further ensure qualitative development of the entire ecosystem. This is vital for Skill India and in turn Make in India. ESSCI hopes to benefit from this association and pass it to the society,” he added.

“IEEE is fully aligned with the mission of ESSCI to improve the skills of engineers in India. As a knowledge partner IEEE will create programs in new and emerging engineering disciplines to help students, faculty and working professionals. These joint programs will help industry at lager with the required talent,” said  Harish Mysore, Director IEEE India Operations.
