According to one of the Google official in India, if Apple starts manufacturing in the country it would be beneficial for overall smartphone growth.
“If Apple sets up a plant in India and are able to bring more products made for India, they might grow overall industry for smart phones, which will be good for overall retail,” Google India Industry Director Nitin Bawankule told PTI on the sidelines of release of a report ‘Digital Retail 2020′ by Google and AT Kearney.
The Google official was asked about his views about Apple starting its manufacturing unit in India. Bawankule said that if Apple decides to open a manufacturing plant in India, will will be great for the industry in general.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently visited India and met up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the company’s plans of opening Apple stores in India and possibility of having a manufacturing setup here. Though, everything is far fetched experts believe that Apple would take sometime before they decide to take the plunge of making in India.
