Wednesday, December 10, 2014: To promote the growth and increase investments in the micro, small, and medium sector (MSME) enterprises in West Bengal, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced to launch a Scheme of Approved Industrial Park (SAIP).
Under this scheme, it will become viable for any private player to establish an industrial park under the clause of Special Purpose Vehicle within any part of West Bengal. While government will aid these set up by one-time grant. Raj Kumar Middya, the state joint secretary, MSME&T department said, “This scheme (SAIP) is aimed at increasing the participation of the private players in the state and any company wishing to procure land for the purpose of industry will be aided by the state government in term of a one-time grant.”
The MSME policy of West Bengal is designed to improve the vendor linkage by 2 to 10 per cent within the span of next 5 year. While the process would be facilitated by government authorities and perhaps thereby would be supported by a public procurement policy.
The policy would also help to boost the volume of MSME products market by at least 25 per cent. The government has bind in several subsidies and benefits as well for MSMEs, like interest subsidy, VAT refund, electricity facilitation and much more. The scheme also provides greenfield industrial parks, with minimum ceiling of 20 acres land, which perhaps can be used to build high growth region across the state.
