‘Make In India’ can serve as a flourishing opportunity for IT manufacturers: MAIT

ElectronicsThursday, December 4, 2014: The ‘MAIT ICT SME Conclave’ organised in Thiruvananthapuram by the Manufacturers Association of Information Technology, has delivered a message for all IT manufacturers to join the mainstream ICT community while exploring opportunities by participating in ‘Make In India’ campaign.

The Manufacturers Association of Information Technology is the hand behind the IT hardware, training and R&D services sectors.

Domestic demand for IT hardware and electronics may go up till $400 billion by 2020. At the prevailing base of domestic production, IT hardware and electronics are expected to be imported in India worth $320 billion to cater to the growing demand. MAIT is planning to work in alliance with the government and SME manufacturers to make India a manufacturing hub.

The co-sponsors of the conclave were the Union Ministries of Communication & Information Technology and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Rahul Gupta, Chairman, SME Chapter, MAIT stated that the government’s efforts for growth of manufacturing sector in India cannot be under estimated.

Also, by promoting investment in the country by the international and domestic players would also help in giving a boost to economic growth of country. MAIT has set up a website named as www.maitsme.com to serve all the information needed by the SMEs units. The portal would also give an opportunity to SME to extend their solutions to wider audience.

MAIT SME Conclaves also serve as a single window for small enterprises to connect with government bodies and other. The conclave also had put some light on issues related to training of manpower and skill development, funding procedures, supportive schemes for SMEs and also on setting up of electronic manufacturing clusters.
