ABB Ltd has inaugurated two new facilities in Savli close to its Vadodara plant. Covering an area of about 15,000 sq m, the facilities were built in 18 months with an investment of about US$ 50 million. The new manufacturing units will produce high voltage switchgear and distribution transformers. The transformer factory will focus on the production of dry type and oil immersed distribution transformers, which will extend ABB’s distribution transformer range up to 10 MVA, 36 kV.

Mahindra EPC Services Pvt Ltd

Deals in: Solar solutions for on-grid, EPC and off-grid

Mahindra EPC Services has established two solar plants for a consortium of automotive component manufacturers in Tamil Nadu—a 2.12MW plant for MM Forgings and a 1.06MW plant for Super Auto Forge, both of which are located in Aruppukottai in southern Tamil Nadu. In addition to the above companies, the consortium consists of IM Gears, the Rane Group and Autotech Industries. The plants have been commissioned in around 40 days. The two solar plants will supply more than 4.78 million units of clean energy, displacing nearly 3380 MT of CO2 annually.

AEG Power Solutions

Deals in: Power electronic systems and solutions

AEG Power Solutions has commissioned a 5.83MWp project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, for the Nahar Group. This solar plant is equipped with high efficiency crystalline modules and connected to a 33kV grid. The complete project was designed, engineered and commissioned by AEG’s Power Solutions team. For the remaining systems, AEGPS Protect PV.630 inverters (supported by Skytron energy monitoring solutions) were used.

Fairwood Smart Green Company

In a joint venture between the governments of Slovenia and India, a
hi-tech facility for the manufacture of green hybrid boxes for solar projects has been inaugurated in Gurgaon. The projects are going on at Fairwood Smart Green Company, with the objective of transforming Gurgaon into the green capital of the country. At present, 195.99 MW of electricity is being produced from renewable sources in Haryana. These include 73.30 MW from small hydro, 107.20 MW from bio-mass, 4.14 MW from waste, 7.8 MW from solar and 2.74 MW from bio-mass gasification.

Salora International Ltd

Manufactures: Consumer electronics

Salora has started manufacturing multimedia speaker systems at its state-of-the-art plant in Noida. This unit has been manufacturing a range of speakers for TVs, PA systems, cars, etc. Salora has strengthened its manufacturing footprint with the current production capacity of 20,000 units per month. It plans to achieve a target capacity of 50,000 units per month in the coming fiscal year.
