Infosys Partners with Hitachi, Panasonic, Parsona for Digital Procurement Platforms

Infosys will acquire 81 per cent of the shareholding in Hitachi Procurement Service Co., Ltd. The other three entities will be minority shareholders of the joint venture of digital procurement platforms.

Infosys has announced a joint venture with Japanese companies Hitachi, Panasonic and Pasona to leverage digital procurement platforms for the clients and consumers in Japan and across the world. The aim is to strategically enhance the presence of Infosys in the technologically advanced Japan.

Infosys will acquire 81 per cent of the shareholding in Hitachi Procurement Service Co., Ltd., Hitachi’s fully-owned subsidiary that currently handles indirect materials purchasing functions for the Hitachi Group. The other three entities will be minority shareholders of the joint venture of digital procurement platforms.

Mix of advanced technologies

Infosys has planned to bring its expertise in digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to the joint venture besides procurement processes, consulting and analytics.

Expressing delight over the partnership, Ravi Kumar, President, Infosys, said, “This joint venture will help Japanese corporations transform their procurement processes using next-generation digital platforms, as we bring together the combined power of deep procurement expertise, technology, global expertise and local skills.” He added that the partnership with the established conglomerates will help accelerate business across the world.

Support to Hitachi Procurement Globally

Masashi Murayama, Chief Procurement Officer, Hitachi believes that the partnership will combine strengths and unlock the potential of Infosys, Panasonic and Pasona. He said, “The procurement role is critical to Hitachi’s success and this partnership will strengthen Hitachi Procurement’s global competitiveness with new operating models, and high-quality delivery at speed enabled by digital technologies.”

Deepak Padaki, Executive Vice President and Head, Corporate Strategy, Infosys, considers Japan as a strategic market for the company. He says that the partnership will not only aid in enhancing its local presence in Japan but also pave the way to the global markets.

The newly formed entity will combine Hitachi and Panasonic’s knowledge of procurement functions and local teams, Pasona’s human capital and BPM networks in Japan to provide end-to-end, efficient and high-value procurement capabilities to corporations.
