India’s Deputy High Commissioner said that this is the time when non-resident Indians (NRIs) and other businesses recognised the exceptional strengths of India

India has invited Canadian businesses and investors to tap the country’s potential in the fields of technology transfer, solar energy, weather forecasting and flood control. Deputy High Commissioner of India in Canada Arun Kumar Sahu, while addressing a Canada-India Global Forum, said that the path of progress that India has achieved till now cannot be reversed.

The major subject of the discussion come up at the forum is technology transfer, specifically the artificial intelligence (AI) in a number of areas including flood control, weather forecasting and effective use of solar energy in creating the country’s ambitious project of ‘Smart Cities’.

India is on a path of growth

Sahu said that this is the time when non-resident Indians (NRIs) and other businesses recognised the exceptional strengths of India and build on these strengths rather than concerning about minor inconveniences.

India’s progress is the result of reforms undertaken since its independence and could never be reversed irrespective of the whichever Government is in power. The all-round development of the country is taking place in such a way that is paving a path for a new, better and bigger India, said Sahu.

India’s young populace is a big asset

He mentioned that India is among the world’s fastest growing economies and it should not be compared with China. Out of India’s 1.3 billion population, 65% is under the age of 35, whereas China’s population is ageing.

“With a smartphone in their hands, the young minds are raring to go with their dreams and that’s where the opportunity lies for innovation and new discoveries,” Sahu added.

The forum saw the participation from the Quebec province of Canada where there is a majority French speaking people. The participants heard India’s Deputy High Commissioner and make a passionate plea in tapping India’s potential as the emerging knowledge economy.
