GE ensures brighter lighting and a faster illuminating time at lower costs
Objective
The basketball team, Cleveland Cavaliers from Ohio, USA, practices at the Cleveland Clinic Court. But the old lighting installed at the court was hampering visibility at important training sessions.
Challenge
Normally, when the lights fused, something that happened quite often, it took almost 10 minutes to change the old metal halide fixtures. So, LED high bay lighting fixtures were required—these would not blow out so often, plunging training sessions into darkness.
Solution
The team management chose GE, which is also the team’s home town partner. GE’s Albeo high bay LED lighting fixtures were installed. These are energy efficient and do not take time to warm up before lighting up. These lights even work as backup generators. In the court, more than 70 Albeo fixtures were installed and each one of them has a lifespan of 100,000 hours, while GE claims they also don’t need any maintenance for two decades.
These LED lights save about US$ 14,000 per year apart from other HVAC expenses. Besides, no warm up time is required and players can concentrate on their games.
