LEDs provide a cheaper, smarter and more attractive lighting option compared to fluorescent lamps
Objective
Hartville Market Place, in Ohio, USA, needed better lighting in its main building where a wide variety of shopkeepers sold food, clothes, jewellery and accessories. The shopping centre also
had three restaurants. While wanting to provide shopkeepers and their customers with good lighting to enhance how the products were exhibited, Hartville also wanted the fixtures used to be energy efficient and hence result in savings.
Challenge
The key challenge was to meet the requirements of shopkeepers and to choose those lights which would actually enhance the quality of the products and attract as many customers as possible. Earlier, one of the problems faced was that linear fluorescent lights would burn out quickly and even change colour.
Solution
The company chose Energy Focus to meet its lighting requirements. The new lights enhanced the quality of the products on display and the president of the market, Marion Coblentz said that when he met customers and asked them about the lighting they said that they were really happy with it—it made food look more delicious and clothes look even better.
