TSSC launches first Training Batch Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) launched its first pilot training batch on 17th August, 2013 at New Delhi with Centum Learning and Empower Pragati. Both these training providers are being funded by National Skill Development Council (NSDC). All trainees will be certified by TSSC via an industry approved protocol and subsequently, each candidate would receive Rs. 10,000 as a reward for successful completion.

The financial incentive of Rs 10,000 for successful trainees is part of the Standard Training Assessment and Reward (STAR) scheme which is being implemented by nine Sector Skill Councils. One of them is TSSC. It is a great recognition for TSSC that they have put their act together in a short time and are among the top SSCs in the country today.

TSSC has been able to complete the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for 25 job roles thus far and is ready to start training for these job roles. The target is to train 1 lakh people by March 2014.

Hon’ble Finance Minister Shri P Chidambaram had launched the National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme on August 16, 2013 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, This scheme will provide monetary incentives for skill certification to 10 Lakhs youth till March 31, 2014, with a budget of Rs 1000 Crores.

DeitY has allowed time up to October 3, 2013 to manufacturers of Electronic Data Projectors, Network Attached Storage, Hard Device Media Player, All in One Computers, Digital Duplicators, Barcode Printers, who have submitted their samples for testing to any of the BIS recognized Lab. Necessary orders in this regard have been issued by DeitY on August 23, 2013 and a copy of the same is available at www.deity.gov.in/esdm

The relaxation was provided based on industry request that the manufacturers of these products did not realize that they were covered under the category ‘Automatic Data Processing’ and therefore had not taken advance steps to get their products tested. This matter was discussed in a meeting held with all stakeholders on Aug 8, 2013 and an agreement arrived at. In pursuance of the said decision, the said order.
