Kalyanaraman Rajaraman has been appointed as the new secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He replaces Anshu Prakash, the former DoT secretary.

A lot of experts are seeing the appointment of Rajaraman as a step closer towards prime Minister’s aatnirbhar bharat. Rajaraman, a Tamil Nadu cadre 1989-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer, will take over his new role post the superannuation of Prakash. The latter’s term comes to an end on 30 September 2021.

Rajaraman was earlier associated with the the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) as an additional secretary of investments.
