ZF Expands Aftermarket Commercial Vehicle Range With ADAS Sensors

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are gaining traction in the commercial vehicle market. Since 2015, trucks have been required to have automatic emergency braking assistants and lane departure warning systems. Starting in 2024, additional driver assistance systems will be mandatory across the EU.

ZF Aftermarket is now offering sensors for commercial vehicle applications on the independent aftermarket for the first time under its WABCO brand. These include the front camera for the OnLaneALERT lane departure warning system and the radar sensor for the OnGuardACTIVE automatic emergency braking system. Available in OE specification and quality for many DAF and Iveco commercial vehicle models, these spare parts come with the necessary brackets and covers. This expansion enables independent workshops to perform complete repairs without compromising their collaboration with their usual suppliers, especially in accident repairs. However, ZF Aftermarket emphasizes that sensors must be programmed with the vehicle manufacturer’s original diagnostic software after installation.

The ADAS sensors are a notable addition to ZF Aftermarket’s extensive portfolio of commercial vehicle parts, available under its premium brands ZF, Lemförder, Sachs, TRW, and WABCO. The parts program covers nearly all maintenance work, from steering, axles, suspension, and shock absorbers to brakes, drive components like clutches and transmissions, as well as air supply and conditioning. Lubricants tailored to ZF transmissions, along with tools and specialized equipment, complete the range. Workshops particularly appreciate the repair kits, which facilitate workshop work and enhance repair quality. These kits include all necessary components for a professional repair, such as screws, seals, and lubricants, along with enclosed repair instructions. This comprehensive approach underscores ZF Aftermarket’s commitment to providing not just products but also solutions to its partners.

The commercial vehicle market is expected to grow significantly, with the German government forecasting a 46% increase in truck freight traffic by 2051. This expansion, coupled with the rising demand from parcel services and bus companies, presents substantial opportunities for workshops. However, to capitalize on these opportunities, workshops require a strong partner. As the world’s largest commercial vehicle supplier, ZF, with its comprehensive product portfolio of over 70,000 part numbers following the integration of WABCO, is well-positioned to meet this need. The company introduces more than 400 new commercial vehicle spare parts annually, catering to the evolving demands of the market.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are becoming increasingly prevalent in commercial vehicles. Since 2015, trucks have been required to be equipped with automatic emergency braking assistants and lane departure warning systems. From 2024, additional driver assistance systems, such as speed assistants, turning assistants, and accident data recorders, will become mandatory throughout the EU. This regulatory shift presents challenges for independent commercial vehicle workshops, particularly in the maintenance and repair of trucks and buses. Post-repair, driver assistance systems must be checked and recalibrated, necessitating access to the appropriate spare parts, especially sensors that provide data for these systems.
