Waaree Energies to double capacity to 1GW

February 21, 2015: Waaree Energies, one of the key players in the Indian solar market, plans to expand its production capacity to 1GW per annum. The company had recently upgraded its facility from 250MW to 500MW and now aims to double it again.

The upgradation is in sync with the rising demand for solar power generation, thus setting up of new solar plants and roof top set ups across the country. The company has reportedly informed that it has received orders to provide modules for 40 per cent of the domestic content capacity allocated under the National Solar Mission phase 2, batch 1, which sums up to nearly 150MW.

India is riding high on harnessing solar energy and reaching a landmark number of 100GW of solar power capacity by 2022. To fulfil this the government has launched various schemes under which it is promoting the public and private sector to invest in the plants and also promoting households to set up roof top systems. With this combined effort to promote renewable energy has also been recognised by global player and investments are pouring in.
