STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, learned today that Mr. Vivek Sharma, STMicroelectronics Regional Vice President, India Operations and Director, India Design Centers was honored with ‘Outstanding Contributor to Embedded/ VLSI Design Industry – Individual category’ by Mentor Graphics Corporation, a leader in electronic hardware and software design solutions. The award was presented during the 2012 Leadership Award Ceremony held conjointly with a media house ‘Silicon India.’
Mentor Graphics Leadership Awards for the Embedded/VLSI Industry are one-of-a-kind annual awards that recognize the outstanding contributions of various companies/individuals driving the semiconductor industry.
The award recognizes Mr. Sharma’s significant contributions and dedication to the industry over a career spanning two decades. He has been instrumental in building large teams within STMicroelectronics as well as spearheaded various initiatives for the industry. These initiatives include setting up university labs and extensive training programs to nurture engineering talent, supporting start-ups, and leading industry associations’ activities that have resulted in positively influencing the overall ecosystem. Mr. Sharma is widely recognized as a key opinion leader and has been a constant support to Government/Industry bodies in framing key policies that have contributed to a competitive ecosystem for semiconductor growth and development in India.
