Vadodara airport to depend upon on solar energy for its everyday operations, said Vadodara airport director Charan Singh to PTI adding that the solar plant will cater to 50 per cent of the requirement of the airport.
“The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has installed this solar plant for which the contract worth Rs 3.5 crore was awarded to a private company. It will generate 675 kw of electricity, and also cut the annual electricity cost by around Rs 5 lakh per month,” said the director.
He also mentioned about the underutilised condition of the airport as the Mumbai and Delhi airports remain congested and fly around these airports for the landing permission.
