Toyota has been certified for its e-Drive EV transaxle, which is integral to the drive systems of hybrid, all-electric, and fuel-cell electric vehicles.

Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts (TKAP), a subsidiary of Toyota Group India, has been awarded the Domestic Value Addition (DVA) Certificate for its xEV Transaxle (e-Drive). This certification qualifies TKAP for benefits under the Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, which supports Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products.

The xEV Transaxle is a crucial element in a variety of Electrified Vehicle technologies, including strong hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids (PHEV), electric vehicles (EVs), and fuel cell electric vehicles. Toyota reports that this transaxle has met the rigorous standards set by Advanced Automotive Technology and has been approved by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Established in 2002, TKAP manufactures various propulsion components like rear axles, propeller shafts, transmission units, and xEV Transaxle assemblies.

Significantly, the company has also successfully localized the production of key electrified vehicle components and the plant and machinery involved in their production.

K N Prasad, Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts, commented on the achievement, expressing appreciation for the Indian government’s sustained support and the PLI scheme. He emphasized the progress made in positioning India as a vital manufacturing center for advanced, efficient, and environmentally friendly vehicles that can compete on pricing in the future.

Additionally, entities within the Toyota Group, including Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts, and Toyota Industries Engine India, have collectively invested over Rs 16,000 crore as of December 2023.
