In February 2011, Texas Instruments (TI) introduced an isolated half duplex differential line transceiver with integrated transformer drivers.
Features and USP: The ISO1176T, an isolated Profibus RS-485 transceiver, provides 2500 Vrms of isolation between the line transceiver and logic level interface to reduce the risk of data corruption and damage to expensive control circuits over long transmission lines. It operates at 40 MBps, enabling faster data transmission. It also supports 160 nodes, reducing the number of repeaters required and the system cost. The ISO1176T is compatible with regulators like TI’s TPS76350, a low dropout voltage regulator that offers the benefits of low power operation and a small package. It has a longer life and greater reliability. Its major application areas include Profibus systems, factory and building automation, networked sensors, motor/motion control, HVAC, and networked security stations.
