In May 2011, Texas Instruments (TI) launched the first quad channel, 16 bit analogue to digital converter (ADC)—ADS5263—which can be used for applications such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the medical field.
Features and USP: The device gives designers clear and crisp signals and faster acquisition times by delivering a high signal to noise ratio (SNR) of 84.6 dBFS with an input of 10 MHz and a sampling frequency of up to 100 MSPS. It consumes low power of 380 mW/channel. Its small footprint allows engineers to design smaller, more compact medical imaging systems than were previously possible only with existing single or dual channel devices. The non-magnetic package option also allows operation without image distortion in a strong magnetic field, such as in MRI equipment.
