Central government’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has recognized three solar power projects that were constructed by Mahindra EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) for early commissioning of solar power projects.
The project that has been listed on top in the merit list is the 5MW Solar PV power project constructed by Mahindra EPC for Mahindra Solar One near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Along with that, two projects constructed by the company for Fonroche, France, with a capacity of 5MW and 15MW near Bikaner, Rajasthan, have been listed as first and third, respectively, on the merit list for early commissioning for Phase I, Batch II, Hindu Business Line reported.
Farooq Abdullah, Minister, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy reportedly said, “India’s installed capacity for grid connected solar projects has crossed 1,500 MW and several projects have been commissioned ahead of schedule in Batch II of Phase I of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.”
Basant Jain, CEO, Mahindra EPC said in a statement, “We have commissioned 60 MW of solar projects in four months.”
According to Parag Shah, Managing Partner at Mahindra Partners and Head of Mahindra Cleantech Ventures told HBL, “We have identified the renewable energy sector as a future growth driver for the Mahindra Group and have plans to develop 500 MW of solar power projects between our solar EPC and solar project development arms over the next three years, both within India and in the overseas markets.”
The three solar PV power plants are capable of supplying 45 million units of clean, green energy annually.
