Tata Motors has unveiled its state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology ‘ZIPTRON’, which will power a range of Tata electric cars and has been tested for one million kilometers. The company will be launching the powertrain in the fourth quarter of the current financial year.
Key Distinctive Characteristics
ZIPTRON embodies distinctive characteristics such as high voltage system, zippy performance, long-range, fast charging capability, battery with a warranty of 8 years, and adherence to IP67 standard.
It comes with a permanent magnet AC motor and waterproof battery system and also utilizes smart regenerative braking to charge the battery while on the drive.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors said, “We are proud to present this state-of-art technology brand – ZIPTRON, which has been designed in-house while utilizing our global engineering network. With this technology, we hope to usher in a new wave of eMobility in India and accelerate faster adoption of EVs, supporting the Government’s vision.”
Along with the launch, Tata Motors also rolled out the ZIPTRON Freedom 2.0 campaign, which aims at highlighting how the technology breaks existing barriers and provides freedom from pollution.
Recently, Tata Motors also partnered with another group company Tata Power to set up public charging stations at key locations. The companies plan to set up 300 charging stations across Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad by the end of the fiscal year 2019-20.
