- $10 billion has been targeted for creating job opportunities for 20-30 lakh people
- The government has a target of incorporating at least 25 AI based products into defence in near future
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the defence ministry has set a target of $26 billion for aerospace, defence services and goods by 2025 under the Defence Production Policy. He also added out of the $26 billion, $10 billion is targeted for creating job opportunities for 20-30 lakh people.
Singh also added that the country has to seek excellence in the field of defence innovation and their adoption to the defence systems. He further said that defence public sector undertakings ( DPSUs), industry, research institutes and services need to work hand in hand.The government has a target of incorporating at least 25 AI based products into defence in near future.
Designing of components and sub-systems
In the DRDO Industry Synergy summit 2019, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, DRDO chairman and Department of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D) Secretary, mentioned about the latest policies of DRDO like like Zero Transfer of Technology (ToT) and Zero Royalty for Development-cum-Production Partners (DcPP) and free usage of DRDO patents by domestic Industry. He also said that recently, industry base has expanded from just manufacturing to development and designing of components and sub-systems.
