Wednesday, 07 August 2013: Su-Kam Power Systems Limited, the leading player in the power back-up industry in India and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL), a Tata Power and Government of Delhi joint venture company, which distributes electricity in North & North West Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which subscribers and employees of TDPPL can avail exclusive discounts on Su-Kam’s Solar PV modules, roof top solar systems and other solar power back up solutions.

Delhi has a renewable purchase obligation (RPO) of 0.2 per cent for 2013-14—it has to meet 0.2 per cent of the demand through renewable energy. By 2016-17, the RPO will touch 0.35 per cent. Presuming that dis coms will sell 25 million kW in 2013- 14, there is a need for 50,000kW of solar energy, necessitating 35.5 MW of installed capacity.

Speaking on this strategic alliance, Dhananjay Sharma, GM, solar business, Su-Kam said, “Against its highest peak demand of 5,642MW in 2012, Delhi produces only 1,345MW out of which 55 per cent is coal-based. Localized renewable generation can reduce this shortfall. In the current scenario, Su-Kam is working aggressively towards communicating to the customers, the potential and feasibility of rooftop solar power solutions for homes and various institutions. The company has come up with a range of cost effective solar solutions that would not only help customers in bringing down their hefty electricity bills through use of solar energy for domestic power generation but also give them an opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint.”

“We are happy to partner with TPDDL as through this initiative we shall be able to reach out to a wide customer base of over 14 lakh customers in North & North West Delhi.” He added.

As part of a larger move of escalating its on-going energy conservation programme, Su-Kam is also sensitive to the aspect of Climate Change and is committed to introduce energy efficient and greener technologies in its offices and manufacturing units. Su-Kam has set up solar power plants with total installed capacity of over 100 KW in its offices and manufacturing units in Gurgaon, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh etc.

With keen understanding of the Indian solar market that is constantly evolving, Su-Kam offers complete range of solar solutions to meet the diverse requirements of customers – right from the solar home lighting systems, MPPT based solar charge controller, sine wave solar inverters, solar batteries, solar power conditioning units (PCUs), PV grid connected solar inverter, hybrid UPSs, solar panels etc.

Apart from Solar Products for domestic usage, Su-Kam provides customized solar power solutions for educational institutions, petrol pumps, hospitals, industries, defense barracks, government buildings etc. Su-Kam has already completed solar projects both in India and abroad. Some of the projects in India have been undertaken for Assam Rifles, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency, Assam State Electricity board, Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, Loyola College, Chennai, Ashok Leyland, etc. in India. The company has also undertaken a number of solar projects in Afghanistan, Nigeria, Malawi, Gabon etc.
