DisplaySearch estimated that 700,000 LCD TVs were shipped by different brands in India in October 2010 to coincide with the festival of Diwali. This was a huge increase from 2008, when 745,000 LCD TVs were shipped in the entire year.
All of the top four players—Sony, Samsung, LG, and Videocon—crossed the 100,000 unit sales mark during the month. Philips, which had been absent from the market since March 2010, re-entered in October, shipping more than 10,000 units.
