Sanmina-SCI Corporation, a leading global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company, has announced that its India Design Centre, located in the Madras Special Economic Zone (MEPZ) near Chennai, which has been providing domain expertise in the design and manufacture of equipment in the medical, networking and communications, optics, defence and aerospace, LED lighting and smart infrastructure technology sectors, has broadened its market to include OEM customers from the multimedia, communications, renewable energy and medical markets.
Besides being a full-service engineering operation for hardware and embedded software outsourcing, the Design Centre offers design and manufacturing services as one supplier, while delivering strategic benefits that include a more efficient product life cycle from concept through to production. According to ELCINA (Electronic Industries Association of India), the market for electronics products in India is projected to reach US$ 150 billion by the year 2015, at a growth rate of 30 per cent per annum. These figures have necessitated that Indian companies that have traditionally done manufacturing in-house, as well as global OEMs that typically use manufacturing facilities in other countries, create strategic partnerships with a manufacturer in India, which can meet and exceed expectations on a variety of deliverables.
