Thursday, October 03, 2013:Â A total of $500 million of the $800 million renewable energy transmission project in North Western India is being provided by the Asian Development Bank. The plans being put at place have 1,850 kilo metre of transmission lines, which will run west of Rajasthan and supply the solar energy to the state and to national electric grids.
The Rajasthan state government and India’s transmission utilities are most probably going to supply the $300 million remaining amount for the project. According to reports, the project will result in upgraded capacity at seven sub stations, while also providing three new 400 kilo volt stations and nine new 220 kilo volt stations.
According to a statement published by the Asian Development Bank on its website on 27 September, $150 million will be furnished now, followed by an additional $220 million later next year and then $128 million, two years later, in 2015.
Further, the bank also said that the funding will be provided from the bank’s clean technology fund, which will also include a project worth $2 million for technical assistance and infrastructure planning for a solar thermal park at Bhadla, newly developed by the state.
