  • It has an EV-specific design, including a striking full-width LED light bar and a sealed front grille.

Mahindra Group has recently unveiled its new contender, the XUV.e8 based on the earlier model XUV700. This electric vehicle (EV) is expected to hit the showrooms by late 2024, following the recent release of the XUV400.

The XUV.e8 is set to raise the bar in the EV landscape with its dual power output options, with the entry-level variant boasting an impressive 230 horsepower. Mahindra has been diligently road-testing the XUV700 EV, and recent teasers showcase this electric marvel, along with its coupe counterpart, the XUV700 EV coupe (XUV.e9).

The XUV.e8 will measure 4,740 millimetres in length, 1,900 millimetres in width, and 1,760 millimetres in height, boasting a wheelbase of 2,762 millimetres. These dimensions make it 45 millimetres longer, 10 millimetres wider, and 5 millimetres taller than the XUV700, with a slightly extended wheelbase of just 7 millimetres. Mahindra has confirmed that the XUV.e8 will house an 80-kilowatt-hour battery and all-wheel drive technology, delivering two power variants: 230 horsepower and a potent 350 horsepower.

This EV promises an exhilarating driving experience with a three-row cabin, sharing most of its body panels with the XUV700, while introducing EV-specific design enhancements. Enthusiasts can anticipate a distinctive front fascia adorned with a full-width LED light bar that seamlessly extends into the bumper. The front grille will undergo a radical transformation, becoming fully sealed and complemented by an innovative headlamp design.

While retaining flush door handles, the XUV700 EV will feature a fresh alloy wheel design. Although substantial changes are not expected at the rear, drivers can look forward to a connected LED light bar and an updated rear bumper design. Adding to the excitement, the XUV700 EV (XUV.e8) will showcase distinctive copper-themed design accents that initially made their debut in the XUV400 EV.

This is said to be a strategic move to compete with the forthcoming Harrier and Safari EVs. Mahindra has officially announced that the XUV700 EV (XUV.e8) will hit the market by late 2024, aligning its launch timeline with its direct competitors from Tata – the Harrier EV and Safari EV. Enthusiasts can also look forward to the arrival of the SUV coupe version, the XUV.e9, shortly thereafter, promising to electrify the automotive landscape further.
