Pepperl+Fuchs Introduces Feature Phone Series for Industrial Purpose

Pepperl+Fuchs has launched new feature phones that enable the use of push-to-talk (PTT) solutions over 4G as well as private LTE and Wi-Fi networks

Automation technology expert, Pepperl+Fuchs has released Ex-Handy 10 Featurephone and the ATEX/IECEx Zone 1/21, the in-house developed 4G/LTE feature phones meant specifically for industrial and hazardous areas.

The company claims that the Ex-Handy 10 with Android 8 operating system is an ideal enabler and companion for innovative industrial 4.0 applications in hazardous areas. It enables the use of push-to-talk (PTT) solutions over 4G as well as private LTE and Wi-Fi networks.

Ex-Handy 10 features

It ensures optimum network coverage in all areas and situations with low network latency and excellent data transfer rates. Speakers positioned at the front of the mobile device provide optimal voice and sound quality even in noisy environments. It also has side buttons for quick access to PTT and alarm services. Additionally, the automatic lone worker protection function can be integrated into the company’s IT.

It has the IP68 rating that ensures protection and withstands permissible ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +60 °C in industrial environments. The phone has a rechargeable battery paired with advanced energy management that allows an operating time above average. 3.5 mm audio jack connector, Radio Speaker Microphone, PTT sets and scan applications are also included in the package.

Cost reduction and asset management

The mobile device, equipped with the latest sensor technology and smart HMI solutions, is claimed to be of great help for companies to reduce costs, increase safety, ensure effective processes and improved asset management.

Additionally, the employees, experts, teams or project groups can use professional industrial applications, make data available online in real time, thereby collaborating more flexibility from any location.

Push-to-talk or video conferencing applications offer advantages for documentation, remote diagnosis, maintenance and repair. The company says that the experts need not be in the plant or on site to make a remote diagnosis and give instructions for repairing the damage.

Germany-based Pepperl+Fuchs is an automation technology firm that specializes in sensor manufacturing. Founded in 1945, it later expanded to electronic production.
