Pegatron Corporation, Apple’s largest equipment supplier after Foxconn, looks forward to starting production in India by September, as per statements made by a close source.
Sources have also said that the manufacturing company plans to train around 5,000 people to work in its maiden Indian factory in Tamil Nadu, which is being readied in a pre-built complex in Mahindra World City.
Pegatron, which registered its Indian subsidiary last year, is investing approximately Rs 1,100 crore in its initial operations. The Taiwanese OEM also has four manufacturing units in Taiwan, Mexico, China, and the Czech Republic.
Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron, all of which are Apple’s suppliers, have been approved under the Centre’s production based-scheme which requires investment and incremental production targets to provide direct monetary incentives in the next five years.
