Nokia Teams Up With Wipro To Develop 5G Use Cases

According to a report by IANS, Nokia has announced its partnership with Wipro to develop drone-based 5G use cases at its Bengaluru R&D centre. The companies aim to help operators maximise their investments in 5G technology.

Nokia aims to provide a live 5G end-to-end system and Wipro will use its software solutions, user devices, and delivery capabilities.

What will it bring to the table?

Randeep Raina, Chief Technology Officer at Nokia India told the news daily that globally, Nokia is at the forefront of developing the 5G ecosystem. The Bengaluru R&D center is working with several partners to do just this, and the company is committed to supporting Indian operators in their 5G journey.

He further stated that their work with Wipro is a crucial step in this direction. The initiative also supports the Indian Government’s plans to fast-track the development of use cases that will be socially beneficial and unique to India.

K R Sanjiv, Chief Technology Officer, Wipro told ET that the company is focusing on building a 5G digital ecosystem on the back of its expertise in India’s enterprise space. 5G is opening up a big opportunity for enterprises.

He further stated that Wipro is already doing the proof of concepts (PoCs) with a lot of enterprises to demonstrate 5G use cases. They are seeing a lot of interest from areas like smart cities, smart campus, intelligent transport, and manufacturing.

Lately, a lot of companies are gearing up for a successful 5G rollout in India.
