We are expanding beyond our traditional base of communications service providers into new vertical markets such as Energy, Transportation and Public Sector that require high-performance networks to run the core business operations,” Sanjay Malik, Vice President & head of India Market, told ET.

Rajiv Suri, Nokia Chief Executive had indicated that Nokia is always open to acquire companies to grow its enterprise business just like it acquired Alcatel-Lucent which gave it an opportunity to go beyond the telecom business.

However, a Huawei spokesperson said, India has always been a key market in Huawei’s global strategy. In India, we are recording even faster than the overall global growth rate, having gained over 500 customers and partners”.

Huawei recorded a revenue of $1.2 billion in 2017.Its devices and enterprise business contributed total around $290 million.

We can develop connectivity, whether it’s for mobile broadband, or for smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, and smart cities. We have growth opportunities here,” said, Ericsson president and CEO, Borje Ekholm to ET. We tried to spread ourselves in different areas before but it was very hard to keep that together, so instead, we started focusing on just connectivity. That we do by selling to our telco customers,” Ekholm added.
