New general managers take charge at BEL

April 17, 2015: Two new general managers (GMs) have taken charge at Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL). They are B S Ravi, GM (military radar)/BEL-Bengaluru, and Shikha Gupta, GM (strategic planning)/BEL-corporate office.

B S Ravi, GM (military radar)/BEL-Bengaluru, graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University College of Engineering, Bengaluru, and joined BEL in the military communications strategic business unit (SBU) as a probationary engineer in 1985. He was involved in the production of communication products such as radio relay digital and radio relay frequency. During his tenure at the electronic warfare and avionics SBU, he was involved in the manufacture of EW&A equipment for various aircraft platforms, including the light combat aircraft.

During his tenure at the missiles systems SBU, Ravi was instrumental in formulating the quality assurance methodology for Akash Missile System, both Air Force and Army versions. During his career in BEL, he has visited companies in USA, UK, Russia and Sweden, in connection with technology transfers and project work. He is a PMI USA certified project management professional (PMP) and a CII business excellence assessor. He also holds a diploma in management from the All India Management Association, New Delhi.

Shikha Gupta completed engineering in electronics and communication from the University of Allahabad and joined BEL-Ghaziabad in 1985 as a probationary engineer. She worked on the core design of digital radio modules, network management system and S band briefcase terminal, as well as system design of multiple satcom networks, radio networks and CDMA cellular networks. She got R&D awards for development of the first network management system and S band briefcase terminal.

She headed marketing and commercial division of systems division at BEL’s Ghaziabad Unit. From 2010 till her elevation as GM (strategic planning), she was heading the development and engineering group of network centric systems SBU at Ghaziabad unit. She facilitated many complex projects such as combat management system, combat information system and air defence control & reporting system.
