Wednesday, September 09, 2014: Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been granted an exemption from getting trade licences for operation in industrial area. The change has been bought considering the assurance given by the state government to keep MSMEs out of the purview of trade licence, as told by the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA).
On 27 August, a circular has been issued by the Urban Development Department which has mentioned that the availing of licence is not compulsory for the small and medium industries situated in government recognized estates, including private and developed industrial areas.
“The Chief Minister has redressed the MSMEs’ long-pending grievance”, Chidananda M Rajamane, president, KASSIA, told TOI.
He further said, “The circular explicitly protects the interests of the industries by withdrawing the right of residents in an industrial area to object to any possible nuisance caused by industries who were the original habitants of the industrial area.”
Senior authorities including, MIA President P Vishwanath and General Secretary Suresh Kumar Jain appreciated the move and mentioned, “As per the government circular, small-scale industries located in the industrial subrub of Vishswarnagar, Bannimantap and Yadavagiri industrial areas of Mysore are not required to take trade licences from Mysore City Corporation. The circular also said objections by residents in industrial area citing nuisance by industries will no longer be entertained.”
The new guidelines are applicable to all micro, small and medium scale industrial enterprises established in any notified industrial area recognized under corporation, town municipality and BBMP limits.
