Launching a Google certified TV may just be a strategy to create interest and drive sales for the product

India based electronic appliances manufacturer has announced the launch of its first Google-certified Android TVs in India. The latest Micromax 49-inch model, priced at Rs 51,990 and 55-inch model, priced at Rs 61,990 will compete against the likes of Vu, Intex, TCl and Mitashi.

The company has said that the new Micromax Android TV will be available for sale starting from November this year at major retail stores across India.

Rohan Agarwal, Director, Micromax Informatics, commenting on the launch, said, “It is our constant endeavour to bring alive the best experience and connectivity through our multiple screens. Today, with the launch of our first ever Google-certified television, we have taken a step further in providing our consumers with memorable and stunning picture-quality experience and a wide array of options with Google’s PlayStore. The new range targets the consumers who want a larger than life experience and desire to access smart android content on a bigger, sharper, crystal clear screen. We are committed to grow this category further and consolidate our position in the television segment in India.”

The importance of Google certification

A Google certification indicates that the new Micromax TVs will run on Android and will come pre-loaded with official Google apps like play store, games, movies, music and more. Micromax is promising stock experience to users on both the variants. However, launching a Google certified TV may just be a strategy to create interest and drive sales for the product.

Micromax Google-Certified Android TV features

The latest Micromax 49-inch and 55-inch models of company’s Google-Certified Android TV range will come equipped with 4K UHD display. These are powered by quad-core A53 processors coupled with 2.5GB of DDR3 RAMs and 16GB of inbuilt storage.

As said earlier, the TVs will come pre-installed with official Google apps. Consumers will also be able to make voice-enabled research using the Google Assistant. Micromax is also offering in-built support for Google Chromecast in its latest line-up.

The new range of Micromax Google-certified televisions features 2 x 12W speakers offering surround sound experience. Micromax claims that its Android TVs are loaded with Pure Sound technology, which is a certified sound technology with Dolby and DTS.

Users will also be able to control the TVs using their smartphones as well. Both the variants include support Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. Micromax further claims that the Android TV is Eco Energy efficient with low power consumption.
