According to a report by Moneycontrol, Mercedes and Audi will enter the electric vehicle market with an India launch in 2020.
Martin Schwenk, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, informed the news daily that on the electric side it makes sense to test the waters there. They would like to see how things shape up from here. The global portfolio is building and has already been built up to a certain extent, so much so that we are comfortable to tweak it to local tastes.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, told Moneycontrol that they are upbeat about the Audi e-Tron India prospects and are targeting to sell as many cars as possible. The showcase so far has generated excitement among enthusiasts and we are confident that the Audi e-Tron will be the right match for a dynamic market like India.
He added that a combination of technology, space, and comfort, the Audi e-Tron is a luxury electric SUV with a range that is suitable for everyday use. They are readying themselves for this big initiative and preparing ourselves to manage this new technology.”
