Logitech International’s chief executive officer and president, Bracken Darrell, has resigned from the company, effective immediately, to pursue another opportunity. The company has nominated board member Guy Gecht as interim CEO.

Darrell will remain with the company over the coming month to ensure a seamless transition. “I feel this is a good point to hand over leadership. I will work with Guy and the board to ensure a smooth transition and I will continue to be a customer, shareholder, and enduring fan of Logitech and its products,” he said.

Gecht has been a non-executive member of Logitech’s board of directors since September 2019. He has previously served on Logitech’s audit committee and has chaired the company’s technology and innovation committee.

He is the former founder and co-chief executive officer of E.Merge Technology Acquisition Corp. and has also served as the CEO of Electronics for Imaging Inc. (EFI) from 2000 to 2018. He currently serves on the board of directors of Check Point Software Technology Ltd.

Darrell’s resignation comes after the company reported a 22% drop in fourth-quarter sales to $960 million last month. The company earlier laid off 300 people in March and attributed the decision to the challenging global broader macroeconomic environment and “lower enterprise and consumer spending”.

Founded in 1981, and headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, Logitech designs hardware and software solutions for gaming and streaming.
