It’s time for Karnataka to go solar big time. The state has plans to tender for 130 MW of solar projects. According to the state electricity utility, the tender will be floated by next month.
The tender document from Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd states that developers are allowed to bid for building more than one project with three to 10 megawatts of capacity. It also says that the companies can submit bids for both solar thermal and solar photovoltaic projects. The developers are expected to lay power lines for their assigned projects to the nearest substation at their own cost. They also have to ensure water availability, said the document.
The tender document stated that only the developers who can offer to sell power at the highest discount on the tariff approved by the state electricity can win. Those awarded the tender will have to ink power-sale contracts with the state electricity supply company. The developers will be given a time period of 24 months to build the plant from the day of signing the agreement. Companies willing to participate in the tender can submit their bids until 23 April.
