Jaguar India Stops Accepting I-Pace Orders

The I-Pace represented Jaguar’s initial and sole venture into the electric vehicle market in India.

Jaguar India has removed the I-Pace from its website, indicating that the company is no longer accepting orders for this all-electric SUV. Additionally, the F-Type sportscar has also been delisted following the cessation of its global production last month. This action leaves the F-Pace SUV as Jaguar’s sole model available in India.

The I-Pace marked Jaguar’s debut and singular entry in the country’s electric vehicle market. Launched in 2021, it became the second luxury electric SUV in the Rs 1 crore price range, energizing the segment. Competing against the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC SUV, the I-Pace remained unchanged during its three years of sales in India, unlike its continually updated rivals. Although the I-Pace will soon be discontinued internationally in preparation for Jaguar’s new generation of electric vehicles launching globally in 2025, it remains on sale in other markets.

In FY2024, Jaguar sold only 31 units of the I-Pace, a stark contrast to the segment-leading BMW iX, which sold 738 units. The I-Pace featured a 90kWh battery pack and two electric motors, delivering 400hp and 696Nm of torque. In mixed city and highway driving conditions, our real-world tests showed the I-Pace could achieve about 410km of range.

The I-Pace was highly regarded for its striking appearance and engaging driving experience, making it one of the most enjoyable luxury EVs to drive. However, it fell short in terms of space, practicality, and comfort compared to its competitors, and many standard features were only available as costly extras.

Regarding the Jaguar F-Type, it was initially launched in India in July 2013 in convertible form with V6 and V8 engines. The coupe version was introduced almost a year later, followed by a more economical 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine in 2018. The model received a mid-lifecycle facelift in 2020.
